ALGAE AND WEED GROWTH

The Sanitary District has been receiving calls concerning the algae and weed growth on the lake this year. With the heavy rains we've experienced this year there has been an increase in runoff into the water that is contributing to the increased plant growth. Our harvesters are out working every week to help mitigate the issues as much as possible. We are asking for patience as cleaning up the entire lake takes time. With that said, the coming week looks to be hot and humid. These conditions are ideal for an algae bloom and we are expecting to see diminished water quality in the coming weeks. We want to remind everyone to exercise caution when going into the water. If the water looks questionable, please stay out. The Town of Delavan and/or Delavan Lake Sanitary District websites will have updates as more information is available.
